We LOVE Awards Season and we must say, it’s off to an amazing start! The Golden Globes hosted a remarkable amount of fashion genius! It was sincerely hard for us to narrow down our favorites – especially amidst the sea of blush/bronze/beige/nudes gowns but alas, we’re going to cover the best dressed of the evening as well as how our predictions fared and who took home globes.
We’ll save the fashion extravaganza for last. For now, here are the presenters, the winners and the speeches!
Ricky Gervais played nice this year and was still as hilarious as ever but he wasn’t the only one with a funny bone on stage – we loved seeing power couple Felicity Huffman and William H. Macy sing a duet presenting Best Supporting Actress in a TV Series. Also, one of our favorite moments was when George Clooney (swoon!) carried Brad Pitt’s cane on stage to present Moneyball saying, “I have to give it back to him. He can’t make it to the bar without it.”
And then of course there were the winners (Note: these are just our favorite categories – click here for the complete list):
MOTION PICTURE WINNERS
Best Motion Picture: The Descendants
Best Performance by an Actress In A Motion Picture – Drama: Meryl Streep, The Iron Lady

Best Performance by an Actor In A Motion Picture – Drama: George Clooney, The Descendants

A tribute to the original bromance, who is the first person George thanks? That’s right, Brad Pitt – he thanks him for his amazing work on the big screen as well as his amazing work helping… Angelina Jolie save the world as Angie looks at endearingly at her husband.
Best Motion Picture – Comedy or Musical: The Artist

Best Performance by an Actress in a Motion Picture – Comedy or Musical: Michelle Williams, My Week With Marilyn

While we might have to agree with Seth Rogen that we don’t necessarily know how My Week With Marilyn fits in with the likes of Bridesmaids and Young Adult, we are definitely pleased with her win. The BEST speech of the night – extremely touching and sincere.
Best Performance by an Actor in a Motion Picture – Comedy or Musical: Jean Dujardin, The Artist

Best Animated Feature Film: The Adventures of Tin Tin

Best Performance by an Actress in a Supporting Role in a Motion Picture: Octavia Spencer, The Help

We couldn’t be more happy with this win! Octavia looked amazing and we also loved her candidness, “This is seriously…nuts!”
Best Performance by an Actor in a Supporting Role in a Motion Picture: Christopher Plummer, Beginners

Three Words: Captain Von Trapp!
Best Director – Motion Picture: Martin Scorsese, Hugo

Best Screenplay – Motion Picture: Woody Allen, Midnight in Paris
TELEVISION WINNERS
Best Television Series – Drama: Homeland
We knew Homeland would hit it out of the park – and we loved any excuse to see Claire Danes back on the stage. Speaking of which…
Best Performance by an Actress in a Television Series – Drama: Claire Danes, Homeland

There were a LOT of amazing speeches! And Claire’s was perfect, “I first won this award when I was 15 for My So-Called Life…The first thing I did when I left the stage was burst into tears because I realized I had forgotten to thank my parents.”
Best Performance by an Actor in a Television Series – Drama: Kelsey Grammar, Boss

Best Television Series – Comedy or Musical: Modern Family
Best Performance by an Actress in a Television Series – Comedy or Musical: Laura Dern, Enlightened

Best Performance by an Actor in a Television Series – Comedy or Musical: Matt LeBlanc, Episodes

JOEY! It’s so strange seeing Dr. Drake Ramoray with a full head of greys but we think he could still break hearts with a little How You Doin’. Loved seeing him take home a globe for playing himself!
SO! Those were our thoughts on the wins! Our predictions weren’t exactly on the money but we’re still pleased with how the awards were doled out.
And without further ado, the fashion:
BEST DRESSED

Hands down, Claire Danes is our absolute favorite of the night and it’s not just because we’re obsessed with Homeland. Her J. Mendel gown was breath-taking, due especially in part to its sexy and sparkly back.

While Lea Michele is getting a lot of mixed reviews for her Marchesa number, we love that she took this fashion risk! She looks amazing!
And then there’s Charlize Theron – it’s almost not even fair to include her because when has she EVER looked anything but amazing on the red carpet? She was positively stunning in her Dior Couture gown.
There we have it, the Golden Globes! Now, onto the Oscars in a month!
