For this edition of “Spotlight On” we are excited to introduce you to Jillian.  Jillian is a product development whiz and one of the hardest workers we’ve ever met.  We were able to steal her away for a few minutes to get the background on her and find out a little more about her job here at BR|LGC.

Please meet Jill:

BR|LGC: How long have you worked for BR|LGC?

Jillian: I’ve been here for a little over a year but actually before I was hired, I had interned here my sophomore year in college – the summer of 2006. Then I came back November 2010.

BR|LGC: Job Title & Description?

Jillian: I’m a brand manager in product development which means I design and develop the frames for David Yurman, Betsey Johnson, Isaac Mizrahi, and Kata. [Pauses mid-answer to ask our IT guy to try on a pair of frames she’s trying to finalize.] On a daily basis, that can mean anything from choosing shapes, colors, lenses, etc.

BR|LGC: What’s the most exciting thing you’ve done working in PD?

Jillian: Traveling! I’ve been to Milan and Hong Kong with the company for trade shows. In Milan there was no time to really get to know this city but luckily we spent the little time we did have climbing The Duomo – the most amazing view from the top. In Hong Kong, my absolute favorite part was shopping in the “micro boutiques.” Also, Jaime and I both brought back the same awesome bag and now the whole office wants it.

BR|LGC: What brand do you like working on the most?

Jillian: Most days, David Yurman – it’s the most challenging of the brands I work on because I have to incorporate the jewelry. Figuring out how to best emulate their jewelry pieces into eyewear is when I really get to be creative.

BR|LGC: Do you need glasses?

Jillian: YES! And I really need an updated Rx. I have a pair of frames tucked away from Vision Expo West: Betsey Johnson’s Betsey Era frame (BJ0122) in Raven. My favorite part of these frames are the pink tortoise temples – they aren’t in your face with color but they’re still fun to wear.

BR|LGC: How long have you lived in the NY Area?

Jillian: Born and raised in central Jersey.

BR|LGC: What’s the best thing about working in the city?

Jillian: Being able to walk outside and meet anyone anywhere like for happy hour. Oh, and LOTS of shopping.

BR|LGC: Where’s your favorite restaurant?

Jillian: Supper in the East Village. Their home-made pasta is to die for!

BR|LGC: Where did you go to College?

Jillian: Marist College.

BR|LGC: So, any college sweethearts?

Jillian: [Laughs because she knows where this is headed.] Yes…we started dating over seven years ago. He lived directly above me and we hit it off immediately.

BR|LGC: So, have you been back to school to visit? Marist Pride and all?

Jillian: Yes. [Smiles coyly.] On New Year’s Day… Ryan proposed right by the river by the boat house. It was perfect.

BR|LGC: Were you surprised?

Jillian: YES!

BR|LGC: Now that we heard a little about your BIG news, we can move on to less girly questions. Describe yourself in 3 words:

Jillian: This is hard. [She asks her fellow PD colleagues. Jaime answers, “Little.”] I am little.. 4’11. Other than that, I guess I’m creative, friendly, and organized. That sounds about right.

BR|LGC: And what’s your coffee order so that everyone knows so they can send you a little congratulations on your engagement?

Jillian: Mmmm… ANYTHING PUMPKIN. Oh, I guess that’s sad and depressing since it’s not fall.

And there you have it – a little glimpse into Jillian’s life! We wish her the ABSOLUTE BEST on her engagement. Now we can go back to bombarding her with sample requests.
