Skylar is another one of our interns who we are thrilled to have on-board. Please read on to learn a little bit more about her!
Where are you from? Ridgefield, CT
Where do you go to college? What is your major? I go to Marist College and I am double majoring in International Business and Fashion Merchandising.
How would you describe your personal style? My personal style can’t be described in one word. I love to wear fun colors and patterns and no item in my closet is like another. I like to accessorize with bold and chunky necklaces, bracelets and rings because after working in a jewelry store for a couple years, I have realized jewelry can change any outfit. I have some very crazy items in my closet such as a green, patterned jumpsuit, but I also have some conservative clothes, like my classic J. Crew sweaters.
What is one item you own that has enormous value to you but none to anyone else? My baby blanket named Floppies!
Who is your style icon? Rachel Zoe because each day her outfit is so different from the day before! She doesn’t have one distinct style she likes to experiment with her wardrobe.
What is your favorite summer activity on days off? Laying on the beach and swimming in the ocean.
What did your first pair of sun glasses look like? White and pink aviators, I still have them from about 10 years ago!
What is your favorite summer song? My favorite song for this summer is No Hurry by Zac Brown Band. Country’s the best in the summer!
Where do you find outfit inspiration? Since I’ve started coming into the city this summer, I like to sit in Starbucks and people watch. You can get some great outfit ideas just by looking at what everyone on the street is wearing! Polyvore is also a lot of fun because you can put together an outfit and see how it looks and get input on it from other fashion lovers.
Name one “now or never” moment in your life. A “now or never” moment in my life was when I made the decision to major in International Business as well as Fashion Merchandising. I could have taken the easy route and just minored in business, but I decided to take full advantage of going to such an amazing college and I made the decision to put in the extra effort and double major.
What is your dream job? My dream job is to be a buyer for a high end department
store. I would want this job because I love all different styles and types of fashion and this job would give me the opportunity to travel the world as well. If I had decided not to go into fashion, I would want to be a restaurant critic or food taster because I love going out to eat and trying new foods!
What do you hope to learn and accomplish by interning at B. Robinson this summer? This summer I hope to learn everything that goes into Product Development and Marketing. I would love to experiment with my writing, by composing compelling blog posts. I hope to learn about each brand that the company works with and how B. Robinson markets their products. I am excited to learn about each step that is taken along the line of creating glasses and how they get from “point a” all the way to the customer.
What is your favorite summer dessert? My favorite summer desert is fresh fruit, especially watermelon! The cafeteria at Marist is awful so coming home and having a fridge stocked with fresh fruit and veggies is awesome.
