As the summer internship season comes to an end, we have to say goodbye to our amazing interns. But before they go, we asked them to share a little about their experience here at BR | LGC. First up, we have Skylar!
What surprised you about interning at BR | LGC?
What surprised me about interning here was how nice everyone was! Since this was my first internship experience in the fashion industry, I did not know what to expect. Notoriously, the fashion industry is known for their “divas” and “divos” so it was amazing to come into a company where everyone is so sweet and welcoming!
Was there anything that you learned that you found particularly interesting?
The most interesting thing I learned this summer was the entire process of product development. I came into this internship wanting to understand the progression of getting a product from conception to completion, including the marketing aspect and I feel like I now understand. I found it fascinating to learn about the way a simple sketch is made into an actual frame and how many tries it takes until the frames are perfected! I have learned where, how, and with what all of the different frames are made, which is so interesting to me. This internship experience was very unique one because I got the chance to work with both product development and marketing and it gave me an idea of what I might want to do when I graduate from college!
What was your favorite project this summer?
My favorite project while working at BR | LGC was, by far, writing the “Your Guide to Finding the Perfect Frames” series. I really enjoyed working on these three blog posts because they allowed me utilize my creativity and newly found writing skills. These were the first blog posts I have ever written, so the fact that everyone enjoyed them was really exciting for me!
What are your plans for the Fall?
In September, I will go back to Marist College as a sophomore and continue to take classes for my dual major in Business Administration and Fashion Merchandising. My role as Treasurer of our fashion club on campus, Fashion Inc., starts in the fall. I am very excited about that! I will also be interning part-time at a apparel showroom in the city.
Any reflections on your time at BR | LGC?
Overall, I had an amazing experience here. Working with the product development team all summer was amazing, especially since I got to participate in August Market. I learned so much from Kristin and Kendall in marketing, I feel like an actual blogger now! I am extremely grateful for the chance to work with such an incredible company.
Thanks Skylar. We really appreciate you and your contribution to BR | LGC. We wish you all the best. You will always be apart of the BR | LGC family!
