We have to say goodbye to our last summer intern Sara as well. Though we will miss her, she has shared a little of her experience with BR | LGC this summer!

What surprised you about interning at BR | LGC?

What surprised me the most about interning was the amount of responsibilities I was given! You hear different students past experiences with other companies, and the most frequent complaint you hear is the lack of actual industry experience one gets. Here, it’s the complete opposite! From working with the product team to pick out shapes and colors, to writing blogs with marketing, I really feel like I gained so much industry knowledge that I am going to take with me through my next two years at college and beyond!

Was there anything that you learned that you found particularly interesting?

I can’t pick just one thing! The whole summer was such a learning experience. Most students go into their internship thinking their relevant courses in school are enough, but nothing compares to actually getting hands on experience like I did here. If I had to pick one thing in particular, I would say learning about the eyewear industry in general was really fascinating.  In my college courses, we tend to focus more on apparel and never really put much emphasis on accessories. Through my time here, I got the opportunity to learn just how demanding yet fun eyewear could be. I never realized the detail that goes into creating the perfect frames! I can truthfully say I now analyze every single pair of frames I see on people’s faces as they walk by!

What was your favorite project this summer?

My favorite project this summer would have to be the inspiration boards I created! They gave me the chance to channel my creativity as well as get a really good sense of the BR | LGC partners. My favorite was definitely the Isaac Mizrahi board! I just love the girly, playful, and retro style that the brand exudes. I had a blast making that one. With the help of the wonderful product team, I was able to create pieces that I am really proud of and can add to my growing portfolio!

What are your plans for the Fall?

In less than a month I will be boarding a plane to London for a semester abroad! There, I will continue taking classes as well as interning. I am taking a photojournalism class where I will have to maintain a blog throughout the class and with my experience at BR | LGC, it will be much easier! Thanks to the amazing marketing team, I have learned so much about social media management and am excited to create my very own blog while in London. This internship has really helped me develop skills that I can take with me anywhere!

Any reflections on your time at BR | LGC?

My time here has really been such an awesome experience! This was my first internship so I had no idea what to expect. I am so grateful that I got the chance to intern for such a respectable company with such passionate and kind people. Everyone here loves their job and it makes the atmosphere so relaxing and inviting. Just want to say thanks to everyone for making my experience as great as it was!
