We would like to welcome out newest PR/Marketing intern Karen! We are excited to have her on board – read on to learn a little about her:

 

Where are you from and where do you currently live. How long have you lived there?
I am from Geneva, Switzerland, but I’ve lived in Manhattan for more than 4 months now.

How has your transition to the states been?
It was not easy to leave my family but I was so excited about living in this huge city! I have always loved this country, there is such an amazing state of mind here.

Do you see yourself returning to live here permanently?
Even though I love this city, I don’t think I would like to live here permanently because New York is so stressful! It may sounds weird but I kind of miss the quietness of my sweet Geneva. It is an extremely clean city, very restful. But I am definitely going to come back here as many times as I can; there are so many things to do here!

Where did you go to college? What was your major?
I am a student at the University of Geneva. I am actually supposed to graduate in about a month with a degree in Business Administration. I just have to finish writing my thesis and I’m done!

What is one item you own that has great value to you but none to anyone else?
My baby pillow.

What is your favorite summer activity on days off?
Going to the beach… And I love discovering new restaurants, especially here in New York, there are so many great places in the city. My absolutely favorite restaurant here is the NoMad Restaurant in the NoMad Hotel. I also love Ninja in TriBeCa. The atmosphere and decoration are amazing. Mike’s Bistro in the Upper West Side is also very good. You can have the chef tasting menu with seven “surprise” courses!

What’s your favorite movie?
There are so many of them, but I think my favorite one is Jeux d’enfants (Love Me if you Dare in America). It is originally a French movie with one of my favorite actresses, Marion Cotillard, who recently played in The Dark Knight Rises and Inception. I also love Quentin Tarantino movies (not very girly, I know!!).

Describe yourself with three words.
Positive, honest, sensitive.

Where do you find outfit inspiration?
I find inspirations in Maje look books (my favorite brand!), and also in other fashion shows and VOGUE.

Name one “now or never” moment in your life.
When I decided to leave my country and come to New York.

What is your dream job?
I would love to work in a fashion company, either in PR & Marketing or maybe as a buyer.

What is your favorite summer dessert?
Reese’s cups, all year long!

What’s your favorite comfort food?
Ethiopian food! It’s so delicious.

Do you have any secret skills or hobbies?
I secretly love singing.

What do you hope to learn and accomplish by interning at B. Robinson this summer?
I hope to gain some experience in Marketing and PR, and bring anything I can to this fabulous company!
