We love summertime and getting to work with all of our awesome interns! In our latest installment of “Meet Our Interns,” we introduce Paige. Read on to get to know her a little better:
BR|LGC: Where are you from?
Paige: I am originally from Irvine, CA, but my dad’s recent move a few miles south now makes Laguna Niguel, CA my home.
BR|LGC: Where do you go to college? What is your major?
P: I go to school at California Polytechnic San Luis Obispo. I will be entering my fourth, and final, year this fall as a Journalism major with a concentration in Public Relations. I am also a double-minor in Women’s and Gender Studies and Media Arts and Technology.
BR|LGC: What department are you working in while interning here at B. Robinson?
P: My time here at B. Robinson will be spent as the PR/Marketing intern! As a Journalism major, my constant exposure to media has taught me of the importance of public relations and marketing for all businesses, specifically in fashion with its countless media outlets that are available today. I find social media to be fascinating, making such tasks as blog posts, tweets, and Facebook updates to be quite enjoyable!
BR|LGC: How would you describe your personal style?
P: I would have to describe my personal style as ever-changing. I tend to go for pieces that are timeless, but I definitely have my moments of graphic prints or loud colors when necessary. I love combining my casual California-girl style of flowing blouses and shorts in all styles with the more classic, modern NYC pieces I have been recently exposed to. I am currently loving the trend of pairing cropped tops with high waist bottoms as the perfect play on proportions and definitely a suitable ensemble for the summer heat.
BR|LGC: What is one item you own that has enormous value to you but none to anyone else?
P: I have a personalized necklace that I bought in San Francisco on a vacation with my mom and sister. It’s a simple gold chain with my name, hand-made, in gold wire. Not only do I adore personalized accessories, but this necklace always brings back memories of my family and the wonderful vacations I have had with them.
BR|LGC: Who is your style icon?
P: My style icon is definitely Rachel Bilson. I admire her ability to pair the simplest pieces with one or two unique pieces in order to create the perfect look for any occasion. I love the simple outfits she is photographed in during her everyday life in Los Angeles. She is able to make a simple tee and shorts the trendiest ensemble with embellished shoes, statement outerwear or a handbag.
BR|LGC: What is your favorite summer activity on your days off?
P: Growing up in California, I have learned to love being outdoors. Whether it’s the beach, hiking, or simply enjoying the summer sun, I find most of my days off to be doing any activity outside. Here in the city, I have come to enjoy spending time in its wonderful parks. Bryant Park is definitely my favorite, but who doesn’t love spending hours on end in the iconic Central Park?
BR|LGC: What did your first pair of sun glasses look like?
P: I clearly remember my first pair of sunglasses, and I still own them! They are a tiny pair with multicolored tie-dyed frames. My family and I have made yearly trips to the Colorado River for boating and water skiing for as long as I can remember, and this was my go-to accessory as a little girl.
BR|LGC: What is your current favorite song?
P: My current favorite song is “Flowers in Your Hair” by The Lumineers. I was lucky enough to attend the Coachella music festival this last spring where I saw this song live and absolutely fell in love. It’s the perfect song on a relaxing summer day!
BR|LGC: What is your favorite summer dessert?
P: I have quite the sweet tooth so any dessert is a favorite but these hot summer days in the city always have me craving frozen yogurt.
BR|LGC: Where do you find outfit inspiration?
P: I find most of my outfit inspiration on fashion blogs. As a fan of social media, blogs have definitely been making waves in the fashion industry as women are posting their daily outfits to inspire followers with up-to-date trends. I would have to say my favorite blog is “Peace, Love, Shea” created by a Los Angeles native with an urban, but classic and feminine style.
BR|LGC: Name one “now or never” moment in your life.
P: I would have to say my “now or never” moment was recently moving her to New York for this very internship. Although I did move away from home for college, I have never really experienced a change in which I was completely on my own in a new environment without familiar faces around. I knew that I could not let the unknown keep me from accepting such a life-changing experience. So far, I love the city and everything it has to offer!
BR|LGC: What is your dream job?
P: My dream job would be in fashion PR. Whether at a firm or doing in-house work, I am passionate about the industry and can only dream of having such an opportunity to do something I love as a career.
BR|LGC: What do you hope to learn and accomplish by interning at B. Robinson?
P: I hope to gain knowledge and experience in the professional public relations and marketing world. I want to learn and take in as much information and guidance necessary to succeed in an industry like fashion. I hope to expand my knowledge of social media as well as understand what it takes to lead a successful business through all public relations and marketing techniques. I am so blessed to have such a wonderful opportunity to work for a company whose team, goals, and achievements are as admirable as here at B. Robinson. I know I will be so prepared for what’s to come after this great internship!
