This month’s “My Favorite Frames” comes courtesy of Don, our wonderful and charming Account Executive in the Mid-West region.  Since he spends a lot of time working with all of our collections, Don definitely has tried on his fair share of frames and we consider him an authority on what looks cool!  Here are Don’s favorite sunglass and optical frame, in his own words:

My favorite ophthalmic frame is the Kata Reverse 2 (K 203) in the dark crystal tortoise/crystal.  The reason is fairly simple – in my 17 years in the industry, I have never received as many compliments on any other frame.  It is also the most comfortable pair I have ever had and the coolest looking frame on the market with the tortoise top and crystal bottom. 

My favorite sunglass without a doubt is the DY 640 in black onyx with black.  It is very hip… I paid a couple of people off and they told me that I look like an old Tom Cruise from the movie Risky Business.  It is very stylish and also extremely comfortable.  I love it.

March: Aquamarine

The traditional birthstone for the month of March is Aquamarine.  Aquamarine is actually a blue-colored variation of Beryl; its name is derived from the Latin ‘aqua’ (water) and ‘mare’ (sea).  Aquamarines can range in color from an almost colorless pale blue to blue-green or teal. The most valuable aquamarines today come from Brazil, but deposits can also be found in Kenya, Madagascar, Zambia, Tanzania, Sri Lanka, Pakistan, Afghanistan and Russia.

Legend has it that the aquamarine originated in the treasure chest of fabulous mermaids, and has, since ancient times, been regarded as the sailors’ lucky stone keeping them safe and preventing seasickness.  Old folklore tells us that the aquamarine has been believed to endow the wearer with foresight, courage, and happiness and in the Middle Ages it was believed that aquamarines could help overcome the effects of poisoning.

My Favorite Frames: Jennifer

For this month’s “My Favorite Frames” feature we asked Jennifer from our accounting department to spill the secrets to her favorite frames.  As a fashion risk-taker, Jen is not shy, so it’s no surprise she chose a bold unisex style – the Kata Reverse 3 – as her current favorite.  Read on to hear her thoughts on the Reverse 3 and why they’re her choice:

“First of all, I love this frame because it reminds me of a chic Clark Kent. I feel like I transform when I have them on! HAHA. But really, out of all of the frames I’ve owned (which is A LOT since I’ve worn glasses since 3rd grade!!), the Kata Reverse 3 is probably the only pair I actually don’t mind wearing when I want to give my contacts a break.

I like the boldness of the black frame and the square shape is perfect on my face. Plus – and I’m not trying to brag – I get compliments left and right on these frames! It seems like everyone loves how they look on me!  They’re also really lightweight – I can hardly even feel them which is another plus in my book!”
