May’s birthstone is the emerald. Emeralds are one of the most rare and valuable of all gemstones. While commercial-grade emeralds are quite plentiful, fine quality emeralds are very, very, rare and pricey. Emeralds are not found along riverbanks like diamonds, rubies, and sapphires, but are embedded in the rock itself, accounting for the high price of extraction. 
Emeralds are the transparent green variety of beryl and owe their color to small amounts of chromic oxide. It is a relatively hard stone, coming in at 7.5 on the Moh’s scale of mineral hardness.
In folklore, the emerald is said to soothe the eyes, preserves chastity, cures dysentery, prevent epilepsy, promote eloquent speech, quicken intelligence and drive away evil spirits. It was even believed at one time that the emerald allowed its wearer to see into the future.
Emeralds have always been highly prized by royalty. Cleopatra, queen of Egypt wore emeralds from her mine in Upper Egypt and emeralds are plentiful in the Russian Crown Jewels from the time of the czars.

Our product development team is one very important group of women here at B. Robinson|Legacie – they are responsible for all design and development of our beautiful products! Meredith is the newest member of that team and we are excited to introduce everyone to her.

M: Associate Brand Manager
BR|LGC: What is your favorite thing about being in the product development department?
M: It’s really exciting to see something you worked on from start to finish when in a store or in an advertisement.
BR|LGC: Do you need glasses?
Yes, I’m blind without them
BR|LGC: Where are you from and where do you currently live. How long have you lived in that area?
M: I’m from and still live in Union, NJ
BR|LGC: If you could go ANYWHERE IN THE WORLD, where would it be?
M: Fiji
BR|LGC: What is your favorite “not for tourists” thing to do in NYC?
M: I love finding new places to eat – the little hidden spots not many people know about. One of my latest favorites is BareBurger in Chelsea. Check it out!

M: I went to the Art Institute of Philadelphia where I majored in Fashion Marketing.
BR|LGC: Where’s your favorite TV show?
M: Currently I’m watching Lost from the beginning on Netflix and I’m obsessed!

M: I have too many so top 3 would be Mean Girls, Pretty Woman & Forgetting Sarah Marshall.

M: I drink coffee and take it with skim milk & 2 sweet n lows

M: DY058 color 05S (from the Thoroughbred group). It’s such a unique and cool color.

M: Energetic, outgoing, creative
