We can’t believe that Vision Expo East is next weekend! While we have been busy prepping for the big event, it occurred to us that many of our guests are coming from all over and we decided to put together a New York City Guide of our favorite restaurants, shops and sights!
Restaurants
32 10th Street (Greenwich Village)
For classic Italian at a neighborhood favorite, look no further than this Greenwich Village gem. A personal favorite of the Robinson family!
80 Spring Street (Soho)
A little piece of Paris right in the middle of trendy Soho. Whether you come early or late, you will find a warm and welcoming atmosphere and delicious bistro food.
72 West 36th Street (Midtown)
A New York institution since 1885, this chophouse boasts the world’s largest collection of churchwarden pipes. Don’t leave without ordering their famous mutton chop.
Peninsula Rooftop – Salon de Ning
700 Fifth Avenue (Midtown)
Indulge in a drink atop the Peninsula hotel and be treated to breathtaking views of 5th Avenue and Central Park. Truly dazzling.
205 East Houston Street (Lower East Side)
Join the generations of New Yorkers who have stood before Katz’s carver as he skillfully carves a pile of pastrami, turkey or corned beef. Considered by many to be the best deli in NYC.
198 Allen Street (Lower East Side)
This restaurant is housed in an old garage and has a fun, convivial atmosphere. The pizzas are perfect for sharing and are available in gluten-free and vegan options!
325 Bowery (East Village)
For a taste of the South right in NYC, head to Peels for make-your-own-biscuits-sandwiches. The people watching on the trendy Bowery is an added bonus.
71 Irving Place (Gramercy)
Right off of leafy Gramercy Park and located on quaint Irving Place, this local cafe serves coffee roasted at their upstate farm, in addition to pastries, sandwiches, tea, wine and beer.
200 Fifth Ave (Flatiron)
This Italian supermarket and restaurant mecca offers many hard-to-find-locally brands and items. The rooftop beer garden, Birreria, is not to be missed and is open year round.
Sight Seeing
945 Madison Avenue (Upper East Side)
With a roster of artists at all points in their careers, the Whitney Biennial provides a look at the current state of contemporary art in America. A must see for any art lover.
North and West sides of Union Square Park (Monday, Wednesday, Friday, and Saturday only)
The world-famous Greenmarket has an unparalleled selection of everything from just-picked fresh fruits and vegetables, heritage meats and award-winning farmstead cheeses and artisan breads.
Dead Sea Scrolls at the Discovery Times Square Museum
226 West 44th Street (Times Square)
See first-hand the Dead Sea Scrolls in this awe-inspiring exhibition. Also included is an actual stone from the Western Wall and more than 500 never-before-seen artifacts from biblical times.
West 249th Street and Independence Avenue (Bronx)
Boasting 28 spectacular acres of gardens, grounds and woodland, Wave Hill, a former country home, is an escape from NYC within the city limits. Open 9am–5:30pm.
14th Street to 30th Street, Along 10th Avenue
One of the most beautiful walks in the city is actually above ground on the west side. It’s perfect for a beautiful day of people watching with city life on one side and the Hudson River on the other!

888 Broadway (Flatiron)
This superstore is a decorator’s dream – it has floor upon floor of home inspiration, not to mention to great restaurants: ABC Kitchen (reservations required) and the more casual Pipa.
112 Reade Street, 2nd Floor (Tribeca)
Pamper yourself in this tastefully-decorated loft nail salon, replete with limestone manicure tables and vintage light fixtures. Nail polish from the likes of Chanel, NARS and more is an added bonus.
414 6th Avenue (Greenwich Village)
Established in 1838, C.O. Bigelow is the oldest apothecary in the United States. Visit this landmark location and stock up on everything from Oribe texturing spray to Marvis toothpaste.
178 7th Avenue South (West Village)
This is the best Jazz spot in the city! It’s been around for over 70 years and music fans continue to flock to it!
